Solicitor member recruitment

Jul 24, 2017

The Scottish Civil Justice Council (SCJC) is advertising two vacancies for new solicitor members.

Appointed members hold office for three years and the tenure periods for the Council’s current solicitor members are due to expire in October 2017. See the SCJC website for information on current membership.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 18 August 2017.

The SCJC replaced the previous Court of Session and Sheriff Court Rules Councils in 2013 and is responsible for supporting a once in a generation programme of civil courts reform. In addition to preparing rules for the Scottish civil courts, it provides advice and recommendations to the Lord President and the Scottish Ministers on the future development of the civil justice system as a whole. For more information on the Council’s priorities and work, see the Annual Programme for 2017/18.

Application packs are available.

The Scottish Civil Justice Council was established on 28 May 2013 under the Scottish Civil Justice Council and Criminal Legal Assistance Act 2013.

Statement of Appointment Practice in respect of appointments to the Council was made by Lord Gill on 11 March 2013 and revised by Lord Carloway on 12 July 2016.
